Uveitis masquerade syndrome as an early manifestation of precursor B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia: a case report

Background: To report a case of paediatric precursor B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) presenting as uveitis masquerade syndrome (UMS).
 Case presentation: A 3-year-old girl with neutropenic sepsis presented poor fixation and right preferential gaze. Vision was light perception counting fingers in OD OS bilateral panuveitis, Roth spots, retinal haemorrhages, exudates. Vitreous biopsy negative for organisms, malignant cells, blasts. Bone marrow aspiration trephine (BMAT) inconclusive orbital MRI showed no infiltration. She improved antimicrobials steroids. During rehospitalization 6 months later sepsis, BMAT 80% blasts confirming ALL, requiring chemotherapy. vision remained band keratopathy, keratoconjunctivitis sicca, seclusio pupillae, cataract, vitreous haemorrhage. partially macular scar.
 Conclusion: Paediatric ALL may present UMS. Prompt diagnosis treatment increase survival visual potential.
